Kementerian Pelajaran: Nasib Baik Ada Idris Jusoh

The Education Ministry has upgraded the school-based assessment (PBS) module using the latest Java and HTML 5 technology in order to resolve the issue of slow and inaccessible servers.

Education Minister II Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh told the Dewan Negara today that the ministry had adopted a new approach by introducing capacity-on-demand for the PBS data centre, which would allow the processing capacity of the server to be increased when needed.

“Users will no longer face the problem of inaccessible or slow servers and auto log-out issues with the application. This will ease the work of teachers, who had previously complained about the execution of the PBS module,” he said when answering a question from Senator Datuk Muhammad Olian Abdullah on the action taken by the ministry to enhance the school-based assessment module and internet connectivity at schools nationwide.

Satu perkara paling tepat yang dibuat oleh Najib Razak selepas PRU yang lalu adalah melantik Idris Jusoh di Kementerian Pelajaran. Bagi memberikan leverage kepada Idris Jusoh, Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi disatukan dengan Kementerian Pelajaran, sekaligus memantau permainan para pegawai Muhyiddin Yassin yang menggunakan kedudukan mereka untuk kepentingan diri.

Bukan rahsia, di MoE, pegawai Muhyiddin jadi taiko besar kepada pemberian projek – daripada tender makanan hinggalah kepada pengawal keselamatan di sekolah.

Cakap-cakap di MoE, pegawai Muhyiddin, waima di peringkat Setiausaha Akhbar pun menikmati komisen besar setiap bulan. Belum termasuk para pegawai lain yang lebih senior.

Lebih menarik, kedudukan di Pejabat TPM juga digunapakai sebagai alasan mengaut kekayaan dan keuntungan berlipat kali ganda. Sampai tender menyediakan lif di kementerian lain juga ditentukan di Pejabat TPM.

Ramai kalangan guru muda selesa dengan Idris Jusoh. Kata mereka, inilah antara Menteri yang ada substance untuk bercakap soal pendidikan. Berbanding Menteri sendiri, yang sebenarnya tak ada langsung jiwa sebagai pendidik.

Satu perkara yang Idris Jusoh cukup takut dan mahu jauhkan adalah bercakap soal procurement 1Bestarinet yang dirasakan sangat merisaukan. Idris Jusoh kalau boleh tidak mahu terlibat langsung dengan perkara ini. Katanya, kalau projek ini dilakukan audit secara teliti, ada orang tertentu yang akan terjerat.————————————————-

Six companies are in the running for the RM1.5bil five-year contract to provide Internet access and a virtual learning module (VLM) platform for the 9,924 schools in the country under the 1Bestarinet project, sources said.

The six are said to be Celcom Axiata Bhd, Jaring Communications, Maxis Bhd, YTL Communications, Multimedia Synergy Corp and bothTelekom Malaysia Bhd/Time dotCom Bhd, which submitted a joint bid.

The access job comes with an option to extend the contract period for another five plus five years, totalling 15 years, and this would include installation, maintenance and provision of a VLM.

Though the Government is looking at RM4.5bil as the absolute sum for the 15-year contract, those in the know claim the bids received thus far ranged from RM2bil to RM6bil. At RM4.5bil, it works out to RM1.5bil for every 5 years or RM300mil for each year.
