As Glasgow 2014 came to a close last night, Singapore was ranked 11th in the medal standings with a haul of eight gold, three silver and four bronze while Malaysia came in at 13th place with six gold, seven silver and six bronze medals.
Malaysia’s gold medals came from badminton, squash and weightlifting while Singapore won gold medals in table tennis and shooting.
The decline in Malaysian sports first began with football, then hockey, and now the nation has to swallow its pride as tiny Singapore bettered the Malaysian athletes at the Commonwealth Games.
Despite the millions pumped into the various sports, more than the total amount spent by neighbours Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos or Singapore, the future looks bleak for Malaysian sports.
To rub salt in the wound, Malaysia failed to meet its seven-gold target. And among other disappointments for the Malaysian Commonwealth team was the thrashing at the hands of England, New Zealand and even Trinidad and Tobago in hockey.
But possibly the most painful is ‎having to concede defeat to Singapore in the overall medal standings, despite Malaysia boasting a superior tradition and culture in sports.
One reason for Singapore’s good performance was attributed to the teams being better prepared given that they will be hosting the Sea Games next year.
In the case of Singapore’s performance at Glasgow 2014, six of the eight medals came from table tennis, which were mostly competed by naturalised Singaporean Chinese.

KJ memang Mat Merit. Semua cakap bab merit. Semua mesti berasaskan meritokrasi. Mana boleh main ambil suka-suka. Lantik suka-suka.
Sekarang ini Menteri Belia dan Sukan kena terima hakikat bahawa dia GAGAL mencapai misi 7 emas seperti yang diperkatakan sebelum Glasgow bermula. Gagal tetap gagal bro. Jangan berdalih.
Kalau ikut cara KJ selesai masalah, semua ini boleh diperbaiki dengan melantik seorang Mamat Bodek bernama Norza Zakaria.
Jangan KJ berdalih, KJ mahu Norza dalam BAM. KJ mahu Norza dalam FAM. KJ mahu Norza di ISN. Kalau boleh Norza pegang MSN dan jadi pegawai semua jenis sukan.
Wake up bro. Cari orang lain. Norza belum tunjuk apa-apa bukti bahawa dia mampu mengurus Sukan pun. BAM? Banyak kerja Tengku Mahaleel. Norza hanya kebetulan berada di India sewaktu Piala Thomas. Itu sahaja.
Lepas ini boleh lantik Norza pegang Persatuan Sepaktakraw, Tinju, Lawn Bowls, Taekwando, Judo, Ragbi…semuanyalah.
Kalau itulah penyelesaian gaya KJ, tidaklah Oxford sangat kaedah menantu Pak Lah ini. Ikut kroni juga. Bukan merit.

Tak de bende nye kehebatan Spore ni! Kalau tak de ping pong, di tangga tercorotlah mereka akan berada!
Apa kena mengena KJ dengan performance athlete kita? Kita boleh tolak kuda ke kolam air, tapi kuda tak nak minum jugak , buat camne?

Oleh kerana KJ gagal dan atas prinsip meritokrasi KJ PERLU LETAK JAWATAN SEBAGAI MENTERI KEBUDAYAAN, BELIA DAN SUKAN.
Jangan pula ada alasan tak mahu letak.
